If you’re a gardner you will know that plenty of growing happens in the summer, so why not your business too? Now is the perfect time to think about growth, so block out some time to map out the short, medium and long term goals for your business.
There are a few good things you can spend your time on this summer to make it your best in business yet and we explore them in today’s blog. Let’s dive in.
Get your house in order
Summer down time is a good time to get your businesses ducks in a row. Take a stock check of what has come down the road in the first half of the year and think about what you need to put in place for the next six months and beyond. Start writing out a plan or even think about coaching to help you meet your goals.
It can be a particularly good idea to think about doing an IT and data audit, make sure that the tools you are using for your day to day business are continuing to do the job for you.
Upskill yourself and your team
Take the time to learn and develop yourself and your team over the summer. There are plenty of training and seminars that you can do either in person or online, and in all aspects of business that might be of interest to you.
At the same time, don’t forget about the importance of investing into improving your team. Remember that it isn’t just you who will be responsible for the success of your business – make sure your team are up to scratch and feeling well valued.
Rest and learn
Finally it’s important to remember that you can’t take huge steps forward with your business if you’re running flat out and close to empty. Without doubt there is a time and a place for going hell for leather, in most businesses the summer is not that time so you might want to take a break to recuperate before you come back braced and ready to go.
If you want to make the most of your down time, you can always loop in some learning with some reading. We’ve previously provided summer reading lists that you can dip into, and it’s likely this will be updated in the coming weeks.
